McIntosh is the most widely grown apple in
New England. Although discovered in 1811, this canadian apple
did not arrive in our area until 1870. Extensive planting
of McIntosh occured after disasterous freezes in 1933/34 killed
many popular varieties including Baldwin. We feel New England
grows the best McIntosh in the country. It's qualities are
so desirable it is the parent of 5 other apple varieties. |
