"What a great article on apple orchards. I remember piling into
the car on a Saturday and spending the morning picking apples with my
family. Afterward, my mother would bake apple pies and apple crisps.
Early in the mornings before school my father would core the apples,
sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar, and bake them, and we would have
an early morning treat." |

"From the Five Fields Farm fruit stand, we have an amazing view
of the apple trees, the adjacent 485-acre preserve owned by Loon
Echo Land Trust, and Holt Pond below. While we are here, a few groups
of people come to pick apples and buy cider, pumpkins, gourds, squash,
and mums.
Between business transactions, owner Tom Gyger tells us that in
winter, the land is used for cross-country skiing. snowshoeing,
dog sledding, and other winter activities."
